As you’ve probably come to notice, I take my role as an enhanced patient simulator seriously. I help teach residents to deal with emergencies so they’re better prepared to face real-life scenarios. The tables have now turned and I’m the one faced with an emergency – a fashion emergency, that is!

What do I wear on my first date?

You read it right, folks. Simone (no last name, just like Madonna) is going on a date! But first, let me tell you how it happened.

I was hanging out as always waiting for the next learning scenario to unfold at the Skills and Simulation Centre when all of a sudden, a note was slipped under my door.  Here’s what was written:

My dearest Simone (sigh…)

For months I have thought of no one but you. I know you’ve been in the other room all along. I was too nervous to say or do anything. But I heard you’ve been asking about me and I think now’s the time for us to meet.

There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you. It cannot wait any longer.

Will you meet me at your favourite restaurant?  I know which one it is. I heard you talking about it in your sleep one night. That, and Mark Sloan – I hope your heart doesn’t belong to him already.

See you on Tuesday at 11am.

Manny

Holy bananas, I’m going on a date! What to wear?! It’s an emergency. A real-life simulation mannequin emergency. My favourite pink dress is definitely not the ideal outfit this time of year, but it’s what I’m most comfortable wearing. Isn’t that one of the dating codes: wear something comfortable? Help!

My heart is pounding so hard and if I could squeal with delight I certainly would, but squealing isn’t part of my simulation options.

Could this really be it? The moment I’ve been waiting for all this time? My person, my Simmate, my… Manny?

It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time.  I think this is when I’ll need your Matchmaker help – to get me through these dating jitters, deal with this emotional rollercoaster, and make our love happen.
